As I had no prior knowledge they would demand this, [...]

I am starting my commentary by stating in very clear terms that I wish the President Umura Musa Yar’Adua well. I really do. I had stated my confidence in him in the past. However, I cannot fool myself or cloud my sense of judgement with emotion. Umaru Yar’Adua, in my view, is no longer fit [...]

Clearly, all is not well with Virgin Nigeria. Being a VN frequent flyer and a fan of Richard Brandson, I have always monitored the progress of Nigeria’s national flag carrier. There are various accounts as to the true state of affairs but it is obvious that the centre is not holding. “Virgin Nigeria Airways Limited is [...]

One would have thought the accusations against former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo would have been limited to corruption allegations. But a sex scandal? Geez. What is this world turning to? This is the height of moral decadence if indeed it is true. Gbenga Obasanjo (Olusegun Obasanjo’s first son) is accusing his wife of having sex [...]

Governor Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State Impeached

Thursday, January 12, 2006

Since late last year, there has been this serious impasse between former governor Ladoja and his political godfather, Lamidi Adedibu. All efforts to resolved the issue proved futile, as both parties remained adamant and each claiming to be right. He did not go the Anambra way (kidnapping and forcing the governor to re-sign) but choose to use the Oyo State House of Assembly. I don’t know how he did it, but the required 2/3rd of the house approved the impeachment of Ladoja after receiving a report of a committee they had setup to investigate the governor.
