MFA 2009: The Mozilla Team

Written by Oluniyi David Ajao

Topics: Ghana, Technology

I consider myself a strong Mozilla fan and was thus excited to have met the team of Mozilla volunteers and enthusiasts that exhibited Mozilla souvenirs at the Maker Faire Africa 2009 technology fair. The team was made-up of young Ghanaians who are seeking to create a recognized Mozilla community in Ghana.

The Mozilla Foundation is a non-profit organization that exists to support and provide leadership for the open source Mozilla project. Popular among Mozilla products are the Mozilla Firefox web browser and Mozilla Thunderbird email client.

The volunteers I spoke with are:

  • Donald Adu-Poku of Ashesi University College (Facebook: aardvak)
  • Benjamin Ephson of Ghana Telecom University College (Facebook: Kwesi Benjamin)
  • Kwabena Appiah of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) (Twitter: atokubi)
  • Anthony-Jordi Owusu who works with Playvision

I gladly picked up some stickers and a poster I’d use in actively promoting Mozilla products.
