i've flown some VN before and it was just ok. generally, you'd expect that businesses just keep thriving! but other forces must be balanced out! i mean everything moves to a point of equilibrium. and that must just happen and that's why all the recession anyway!

i just hope that at the end of the day, we get even!

Oh no, that does not sound good. I do not want VN to stop operations as its a key carrier for West Africa.

I have not experienced nor heard of any fall in their professionalism in recent times. That might not happen soon. The Federal Government is already taking steps to make sure Virgin Nigeria doesn't collapse, according to ThisDay newspaper report:

FG Wades into Virgin Nigeria Equity Crisis
From Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja, 06.26.2009

The Federal government yesterday intervened in the protracted investment crisis rocking the Virgin Nigeria Airways Group by offering to broker an amicable resolution of the disagreement between its management and the British partner, Virgin Atlantic.

The government, while urging the two parties to move quickly to end their rift, warned that the dissolution of the partnership deal might have serious implications on the business operations of Virgin Atlantic in Nigeria.

So if I am scheduled to fly on a number of VN flights in July and August, should I be worried? Do you think their schedule, or more importantly, their safety level will be effected?

The current economic recession only makes matters worse. I have heard nice things about Arik Air but have never flown it before. Any proper airline would have a functional website that allows travellers to book and pay for flights, online. Virgin offers that and more and that's one of the reasons I sticked to Virgin.

The current recession is not a time to be unsure about company strategy or losing strategic partners. Even well-run airlines like BA are struggling.

In any case, other airlines will quickly replace Virgin Nigeria, Arik Air is a good example. I don't think they fly between Abuja and Accra but I'm sure it is work in progress. Using 1spotsearch.com, I couldn't find any flights connecting those two locations.
