Nigerian Bloggers Conference 2008

I came by this event titled “Nigerian Bloggers Conference” via Deolu Akinyemi’s profile on Facebook.com
I added “2008″ to the title of this blog post because I believe there would be subsequent events like this in years to come. The host of this event is the man Deolu Akinyemi himself and it takes place tentatively at Sheraton Hotels Lagos on 24th September 2008.

From the events page:

There is a BIG opportunity for all Nigerians that are currently online. Coming together will put us all on the same page, and give us an opportunity to establish one of the highest paying industries in Nigeria.

This meeting is open to bloggers and wannabe bloggers. Please register to come ahead so preparation can be made for you.

Are you a blogger in Nigeria familiar with my name? Well, we just might get to meet if you are attending. Do well to sign-up via Facebook.

I should be in Nigeria before then and I really hope to be able to wait to attend this event.

UPDATE: It turns out that I cannot attend after all. I am already back in Ghana. Find below, an update I got on 16th September 2008 about this event.

Hello Friends,

The bloggers conference originally planned for 25-50 people now has 200 confirmed guests. As such the only place that can take us in Sheraton wil cost us about N500,000.

We have decided to shift the venue to Elomaz Hotel, at maryland, it’s behind protea and planet 1.

The meeting will start at 4:30pm Sharp. Please confirm you attendance by sending a mail to topsiesuzie@gmail.com. Please do this so that we can provide adequately for you.

I see the emergence of an industry and a company of empowered Nigerians.

Kind Regards

Adeolu Akinyemi
