Davidajao.com’s new look. Coming to a screen near you. :)

This young man named Oluniyi David Ajao has maintained a personal online presence since 2002. Well, in the context of Ghana or Nigeria, that’s quite early. I was then a Computer Science student at The Polytechnic, Ibadan (Nigeria).

I simply wanted to acquire web design skills and wanted a personal website because I felt it was cool. I’d stand-out from my contemporaries. Indeed, I did stand out. I don’t know of any other student in the Department at that time, that had a personal online presence.

Owning a credit/debit card to pay for services online was simply impossible and so I had to search for “free web hosting” on Google. The first website in the search result was FreeServers.com and so I signed-up for the free sub-domain niyyie.8m.net
Not satisfied with their free website templates, I ran Microsoft Frontpage Express on my uncle’s PC and designed my first website. :) Don’t ask me where the design is. I don’t know myself.
The last design I uploaded before I left Freeservers is at http://niyyie.8m.net/old-index.html I’m not linking to it cos Freeservers pushes too many ads on free websites these days.

A lot has changed for me between 2002 and now (August 2007) but one thing that has not changed is my passion for the Internet and every other thing technological.
I registered my personal domain name in 2005 and have been blogging actively since late 2005. Aside blogging and a few sets of photography, I have not had much time for my website as I’d want.

Well, my birthday anniversary is less than 30 days away (13th September). What better way to mark it than a brand new look for my personal website/blog?

Naturally, I’m not inclined towards announcing what I intend doing before its done but by posting this publicly, I’m poising a huge challenge to myself. This would (hopefully) force me to take time off my rather busy schedule to put together a more visually-appealing, more functional personal website and more gratification for my valued readers.

So, watch out for davidajao.com’s new look. Coming to a computer screen near you.
In the meantime, comments are welcome.
