iBurst in Ghana

iBurst, a mobile broadband internet service has been introduced to Ghana. The new service which will be launching on the 12th of June 2006 will initially cover Accra.*

The proponents of iBurst are always proud to showcase it as a true broadband solution due to the fact that it surpases all existing mobile technologies in terms of speed.

GSM – 9.6kbps
GPRS – up 80 kbps
EDGE – up to 170 kbps
3G (UMTS) – up to 384 kbps
iBurst – up to 1024 kbps

This high speed internet access service would come at a minimum of $70/month to subscribers and would not require a telephone line. Wireless Business Solutions (WBS), the company behind the iBurst technology claims it is 15 times faster than an analogue connection and would come with same day activation.

This might be the best thing to happen to me this year as I am seriously considering hooking-up for this service.

* Accra is the capital city of Ghana. Ghana is a west African nation of about 20 million people.
